October flew by in a flurry of school activities, fall festivals, and trick-or-treating. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that the holidays are swiftly approaching.
My big news for October was that advanced reader copies of THE GIRL IN THE WINDOW were sent out to readers! I am equal parts excited and nervous to see what they think about my book.
For any of you who aren't familiar with ARCs, they are copies of a book that are sent to readers prior to the book being released to the public. Usually these are ebooks, but sometimes can be physical copies as well. These are sent out in exchange for honest reviews from the reader. ARCs are a great way for authors to get feedback on their books, and hopefully catch any errors, before the book is released!
There are many websites where you can sign up to read ARCs of books written by some of your favorite authors. A few of my favorites are Netgalley, Edelweiss, and BookSirens.
If you're interested in reading an ARC of THE GIRL IN THE WINDOW, you can fill out this form at my publisher's website. All I ask is that you leave me an honest review on Goodreads, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble -- or all 3! (Please note: Amazon does not accept reviews until the book has been released.)
Now, onward to November!
November is my birthday month, and also National Novel Writing Month -- a perfect combination! This will be my second year participating in a writing event called NaNoWriMo. The goal of this event is to write an entire novel (50,000 words) in one month!
This event is a great way to join a community of writers who motivate you to get writing! Although I didn't complete my novel last year, it was instrumental in getting me to my goal.
This year, I am working on the sequel to THE GIRL IN THE WINDOW, tentatively titled THE GIRL WITH THE LOCKET. I'm about 7,200 words in and making really good progress. The only difference this year is that I plotted this whole story out before beginning, unlike my finished novel where I just made it up as I went along (also known as pantsing)! So far I have stuck to the plan, but I'm pretty sure I am about to go rogue. It's always fun to see where a story takes me!
If you are a writer and are participating in NaNoWriMo, I'd love to be writing buddies! You can find me here.
That's it for me this month!
Happy reading!
